Window Tinting Laws in Hawaii

When it comes to window tinting laws, each state has its own set of regulations. In Hawaii, there are specific rules that must be followed when getting your windows tinted on your car.

What Types of Tints Are Allowed?

In Hawaii, you are allowed to tint the rear and back passenger side windows as dark as you want, as long as you have both side mirrors. However, the front passenger and driver side windows must allow at least 35% of light to pass through.

Medical Exemptions

If you have a medical condition that requires special tinting on your windows for protection against UV rays or glare, you can apply for a medical exemption with the Department of Transportation in Hawaii

How Do You Clean Your Tinted Window’s?

Cleaning Process:

  1. Start by removing any loose dirt or debris from the surface of your tinted windows using a microfiber cloth or soft towel. This will prevent scratching the tint during the cleaning process.
  2. Mix mild soap or detergent with water in a spray bottle and spray it on the window’s surface. You can also use a commercial tint-safe window cleaner instead.
  3. Using a clean microfiber cloth, gently wipe the entire surface of the window in circular motions. Avoid pressing too hard to prevent damaging the tint.
  4. For tough stains or grime, let the soap sit for a few minutes before wiping it off with a damp cloth.
  5. If you want to add a finishing touch, you can use a glass cleaner on the inside of the window for a streak-free shine. Make sure to use a separate cloth for this step.
  6. Once you’re done cleaning, make sure to dry the windows thoroughly with a clean, lint-free towel to prevent water spots from forming.
